About 1 billion plastic toothbrushes are used and trashed each year in the USA. Once in the landfill, they will take about 1000 years to degrade, all while releasing harmful toxins to the environment.
A 2016 scientific study predicted oceans will contain more plastic than fish by 2050 if we don't make a change. A simple way you can make a difference is by switching to sustainable products and reducing single-use plastic.
All Things Natural offers a more eco-friendly alternative: a bamboo toothbrush made of 95% renewable sources and is 95% biodegradable.
- 95 % -- The bamboo toothbrush handle & recycled kraft box
- 5% -- The bristles made from BPA Free Nylon and infused with activated charcoal
At this stage, we’ve chosen to use these bristles as they are in our opinion still the best way to grant good oral care. In the meantime, we keep looking for alternatives to cope with this remaining 5%.
Benefits to Bamboo:
- Eco- Friendly- Bamboo is a natural plant, fully biodegradable, thus a renewable and sustainable resource. Bamboo absorbs greenhouse gases, and releases 35% more oxygen into the atmosphere than trees.
- Sustainability- Bamboo is one of the fastest growing plants on the planet. Bamboo is naturally antibacterial, so it doesn’t need pesticides or fertilizers and it needs very little water to grow.
-
Preserving Oral Hygiene- Bamboo kun is found in the bamboo fibers and is an antimicrobial bio-agent which gives bamboo its natural antibacterial properties. This prevents bacteria and microbes from growing on bamboo products making it the perfect plant for hygienic products, such as bamboo toothbrushes.
How To Recycle the Bamboo Toothbrush:
The handle is made out of 100% biodegradable bamboo and can be disposed in your composting bin or you can give it a 2nd usage (gardening, firewood, etc). The bristles are made from bpa free nylon and should be recycled with plastic. We recommend to cut them off or remove them with pliers.
Replace toothbrushes every three to four months or more often if the bristles are visibly matted or frayed.
