African black soap originated in West Africa, and is made with locally harvested plants. Traditional recipes are free from dyes, fragrances, and other additives that take away from the purity. We source our Raw African Black Soap from the Northern Region of Ghana using fair trade practices.
Benefits of Raw African Black Soap:
- Antibacterial Properties- Natural antibacterial properties make African black soap an excellent alternative to chemical-laden cleansers. Some studies have shown that African Black Soap may actually remove more bacteria than chemical cleansers do.
- It Safe for Most Skin Types- Our Raw African Black Soap does not contain dyes, fragrances, or perfumes. So, for people with sensitive skin and those who are allergic to certain additives, black soap is a good substitute for modern soaps.
- It Helps Treat Acne- African black soap can help balance your skin’s natural oil production without stripping necessary oils or adding excess oil to your skin. The soap's exfoliating elements clear pores, which helps to lessen and prevent acne and other skin blemishes.
- Protects Against Photo Aging- Antioxidants in African black soap protect the skin from free radical damage, which is a cause of premature skin aging, wrinkles and facial lines .
- Soothing Effects For Problematic Skin- African black soap helps reduce inflammation and skin irritations. It is soothing on dry and irritated skin, relieving dry patches, rashes and red areas. African black soap eases the symptoms of skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, razor bumps & acne.
- Lessens hyperpigmentation (dark spots): Shea butter in African black soap helps protect skin from the sun, which in turn minimizes dark spots caused by sun damage.
How to use Raw African Black Soap:
Real Raw African black can have a rough texture and may cause irritation if applied to the skin directly. Instead of applying it directly to the skin, we recommend using the natural ramie soap exfoliating bag that's included, or work the soap into a lather with your hands. Then rub the lather over a damp face, body, or hair. After cleansing, rinse the soap off with warm water. Apply moisturizer and/or conditioner following the wash
How to Store Your Raw African Black Soap:
Store your soap in a cool, dry place. When it’s exposed to the air, African black soap can develop a thin white-colored film—this is not mold. To prevent the film from forming, you may cut the soap bar into smaller pieces, and store until ready for use.
Raw African black can soften and start to slowly disintegrate when left exposed to moisture. The soap absorbs water, so keep it dry to prevent it from dissolving. Try placing the bar on a soap dish with slats to allow the soap to drain before placing it back in a bag.
Each soap bar is made with natural ingredients and may vary slightly in shape/size. Each soap bar is approximately 7.5 oz
